Janta Mela from Dec 17, government job to every family: CM

PRAKASH ADHIKARI

RABONGLA,: “Those who are going around saying ‘Parivartan’, what kind of ‘Parivartan’ they want? I have never heard them saying that they will do better than Pawan Chamling. They have no other agenda but to make corruption allegations. ‘Parivartan’ talk would be meaningful if they say that they would do better than us,” said Chief Minister Pawan Chamling today in Rabongla, south district.
“Those who are saying ‘Parivartan’ wants to disturb peace in Sikkim and to bring Goondaraj in the State. They want to hand over governance of Sikkim to outsiders. Sikkimese people should stay far away from such ‘Parivartan’ talking people,” said Chamling.
The Chief Minister was addressing the inaugural function of the three-day long Rabong Cho Dzo Fest 2018 organised by Cho Dzo Celebration Committee at Cho Dzo Lake premises, Rabongla today.
In his address, Chamling dismissed the allegations of corruption made by the opposition parties against his Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) government. He pointed to the rapid development taking place in the State.
The Chief Minister also made some major announcements.  He announced monthly pension of Rs. 1000 after Diwali to farmers (both men and women) of above 50 years of age. The pension system for senior farmers would start officially with a programme at Saramsa Garden where farmers from all over the State would be invited, he said.
Chamling announced that Janta Mela will be held across Sikkim from December 17 wherein the beneficiaries would be provided with benefits including water purifiers also. He directed the panchayats, MLAs and ministers and department concerned to prepare list of beneficiaries and to ensure that no needy person is left behind.
The Chief Minister spoke about the earlier announcement of providing government job to those families who do not have a single member in government service. All such families would receive government employment within December and for this we have made all arrangements, he said.
“We cannot give immediately regular employment as there some legal hurdles. We will give appointment in MR and adhoc basis. All of them will be regularised in five years as per government policy,” said Chamling.
In his address, area MLA and Power minister D.D. Bhutia highlighted the features of Cho Dzo Lake and how it is an asset for the public of Barfung constituency. He also spoke about the attractions for the ongoing Rabong Cho Dzo fest 2018 which feature North East Riders Meet, traditional houses, Northeast handicraft, boating, tree houses, fashion and talent show, international travel desk and a musical night by local artists.
Distribution of land parcha under Land Bank scheme to 19 earthquake-effected families of Borong Dhargoan was also done through the Chief Minister.
