LT seat issue has not reached PMO: LTVC

GANGTOK: The Limboo Tamang Voluntary Committee (LTVC) today maintained that the claims being made by Chief Minister Pawan Chamling and SILTAC on the Limboo-Tamang seat reservation issue are ‘false’. This was said by LTVC president Yehang Tsong in a press meet here at Press Club of Sikkim.
The Chief Minister and SILTAC are claiming that the Limboo-Tamang seat reservation demand has reached the Prime Minister’s Office but it has not gone beyond the level of joint secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, said Tsong.
He said he was making this claim based on the RTI reply from the Prime Minister’s Office. The issue is still stuck in the Home Affairs ministry and it is not true that the seat demand has reached the Prime Minister’s Office, he said.
The LTVC president said it is clear that the seat reservation issue would not be resolved before the 2019 election as the Chief Minister has already stated to field five SDF Limboo and Tamang candidates should the Centre does not give the seats. Despite knowing this, it is surprising to see the support extended by the SILTAC, he said.
