Governor celebrates Diwali with Army

GANGTOK: Governor Ganga Prasad today celebrated Diwali with officers and jawans of the Black Cat Division of the Indian Army at Libing here.
GOC Black Cat Division Major General N S Raja Subramani, officers and other ranks of the division were present on the occasion. The Governor distributed sweets and extended Diwali greetings to all present, a press release informs.
In his speech, the Governor said it was due to the sacrifices made by the personnel of the armed forces that their countrymen get to celebrate festivals and other occasions with the utmost sense of security and peace. Which is why, Prasad added, the common folk should acknowledge the contributions of the armed forces in keeping the country safe.
Expressing his happiness to be among the members of the armed forces on the eve of Diwali, the Governor urged everyone to find time to celebrate festivals with the personnel of the armed forces who have prioritized country over self and family.
The Governor reached the Libing helipad after completing his three-day tour of North Sikkim.
