GANGTOK: SDF spokesperson K.T. Gyaltsen has dismissed claims of any threat to the rights and interests of Sikkim due to the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2019.
Speaking with SIKKIM EXPRESS, Gyaltsen said Sikkim has special status under Article 371F of the Indian Constitution. Bills of this nature, if passed by both the Houses, will not affect in any manner the rights and interests of Sikkim and Sikkimese people because we are governed by Article 371F, he said.
The rights and interests of Sikkim are protected under Article 371F, said Gyaltsen. He said allegations against SDF government on the bill are an attempt to give a false picture and to gain political mileage. This also shows that they lack total knowledge of the position and legal status of Sikkim, he said.
