Governor felicitates Sikkim Strength Lifting Association team

GANGTOK:
Governor Ganga Prasad today felicitated a 10-member team of Sikkim Strength Lifting Association here at Raj Bhawan, a press release informs. The group comprising of seven male and three female strength lifters was led by Pema Dorjee Bhutia, the veteran player and chief coach of the association.
The Governor extended greetings and congratulated the members of association for their impressive haul of medals in recently held 7th International Strength Lifting & Inclined Bench Press Championship in Madhya Pradesh.
Prasad sought information on the future activities of the association and urged them to practise yoga and pranayama alongside their regular training in the gym which will help them enhance will power and inner strength. He further extended best wishes to the players and assured to provide possible logistic assistance for the improvement of the sport in the State, the Raj Bhawan release informs.
It may be mentioned that in the recent 7th International Strength Lifting & Inclined Bench Press Championship, held first time in India from January 17 to 20 in Madhya Pradesh, the 11-member team from Sikkim had bagged a total of 21 medals including 10 gold, 5 silver and 6 bronze besides best female player trophy awarded to Edu Tshering Bhutia and best veteran player trophy to Pema Dorjee Bhutia.
