GANGTOK:  Shaft Cricket Club’s win over Rangers Club completed the 3rd Gangtok Premier League semi-finals line-up on Monday, as the Gangtok-based club joined Black Eagles, Royal North Brothers and Cricket Association of Tathangchen in the last four.
Shaft overwhelmed the Rangers from Pakyong by 302 runs in the 25-over-a-side match, to register one of the biggest wins in limited overs cricket in the State.
With the win, the local club secured second spot in Group A and have booked a date with Group B toppers Cricket Association of Tathangchen in the semi-finals.
The win is one of the biggest wins by runs recorded in Sikkim.
Batting first, Shaft scored 345 in 25 overs for the loss of three wickets.
Nilesh Lamichaney carried the bat, for the second consecutive time in the tournament, with an unbeaten 122 runs. The Sikkim cricket star had scored a stroke-filled 142 not out in previous game. With a century again, Lamichaney has taken his tally for the tournament to 270 runs from just three matches.    
Wicket-Keeper batsman Bikash Sharma, who was promoted up the order today, fell eight runs short of his century. Tashi Bhalla contributed with 67 runs.
Rangers, in reply, succumbed to an embarrassing 43 runs in 19 overs. Taru Sharma was the pick of the bowlers, accounting three scalps.
With the win, Shaft finished second in the group behind Mangan team Royal North Brothers, who are unbeaten in the tournament.  They will face Cricket Association of Tathangchen in the second semi-final Wednesday. The first semi-final will be played tomorrow between SAP team Black Eagles and Royal North Brothers.
