Raju Bista, the Darjeeling Lok Sabha MP, today demanded that fresh elections should be held for the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) as Binay Tamang and Anit Thapa were not elected by the people and have no right to rule the GTA.
Bista, who arrived at Bagdogra today to a rousing welcome by supporters of BJP and its allies, said, “Binay Tamang and Anit Thapa are not elected by people, they were appointed by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. They have no right to stay in their post as people don’t want them to be holding the posts.”
Slamming the Mamata Banerjee government, the BJP MP added that the TMC lost election due to alleged atrocities in Bengal. He also alleged that TMC has always given pain and tortured common people and that was the result of the recent election.
“Instead of realising their weakness in losing seats in election, TMC government in Bengal has now started attacking people, making arrest and torturing common people. People will never tolerate this and they will give a big blow in the 2021 Assembly election.”
He said that after Darjeeling now its turn for councillors from Kalimpong, Kurseong and Mirik to join BJP soon.
Condemning the arrest of their alliance partner leader RP Waiba, the MP said: “How can police arrest 80 years old man without any offence and criminal record? I will not let it happen in Darjeeling and North Bengal.”
