Chief Minister P.S. Golay today left for New Delhi to attend the NITI Aayog meeting. The meeting is scheduled later this week.
It was informed that Golay would be staying in New Delhi for six days. During his stay, he will be calling on Union ministers and Central political leaders. He will be discussing matters related with the development of Sikkim.
The NITI Aayog meeting is crucial as funds related with developmental projects of Sikkim would be discussed and planned. The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will include a number of Chief Ministers across the country, senior Union ministers, and members of the body that in 2014 replaced the Planning Commission.
This is the second visit of Golay to New Delhi as the Chief Minister of Sikkim. He had earlier attended the oath-taking function of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 30.
Today was the first visit of Golay to Rangpo after being sworn-in as the Chief Minister. Rangpo Police along with local residents gave him a warm welcome at the Rangpo Tourism Centre.
Similarly, RMD minister Sonam Lama also left for New Delhi today. He has been invited by RMD Union ministry to attend a programme and meetings with the ministry, it was informed.
Interestingly, former Chief Minister and SDF president Pawan Chamling is also at New Delhi since last week. Chamling, in his message yesterday, had informed that he would be staying in Delhi for few more days to meeting leaders of different political meetings.
