Forest minister for action on industries flouting norms

Forest minister Karma Loday Bhutia has stated that the State government is assessing the documents of the industrial units established in the State for checking compliance of statutory norms.
Speaking to this correspondent on the sidelines of an event here Sunday, Bhutia said the Forest department would check whether the industrial units are complying with environment norms and waste management rules. Strict action will be taken against units found flouting rules, he added.
On the trees along roads and houses posing threat to life and properties, minister Bhutia said the department is planning to clear such trees and also prioritise planting of flowering and ornamental plants all over the State.
