GANGTOK,: With a haul of 23 medals including 18 gold, Sikkim taekwondo team won the team title in the recently-concluded BBM National Taekwondo Championships at Ranchi, Jharkhand.
Of the 18 gold, four were claimed by Adwayti Subba who was also the highest gold medal winner in the championship. She won the medals in junior individual and team, new poomsae and free style poomsae events.  
The other medal winners are: Trilok Subba (2 gold), Sabitri Pradhan  (1 gold), Anu Subba (2 gold), Binita Jogi (2 gold, 1 Silver), Ismitee Pradhan (2 gold, 1 bronze), Subekcha Luitel (2 gold, 1 bronze), Sudanshu Rai (2 gold), Choden Bhutia (1 gold), Sudeshna Baraily (1 silver) and Anushka Subba (1 silver).
Trilok Subba, a decorated international taekwondo player, said this was Sikkim’s first ever team title at national championships. “Finally we have become a national team champion and didn’t come easy. We had trained for the championship for eight months,” added Subba, who has also coached national team for 2018 Asian Games 2018 in Indonesia.
