Sikkim Aakraman FC organises football camp

GANGTOK,: A summer football camp organised by Gangtok-based Sikkim Aakraman Football Club at Tashi Namgyal Academy playground started Sunday. The camp for 18 years and below has participation of 60 aspiring footballers.
The participating children have been divided different age groups for the camp under experienced and certified coaches. The camp has Sikkim Aakraman FC coach Shisil Karthak, State Sports Academy coach Pushpa Gurung and Mayal Dok Lepcha as head coaches. They are being assisted by AIFF ‘D’ licence holders Don Tshering Lepcha, Nim Tshering Lepcha, Prabhakar Golay, Akash Chettri, Pintso Sherpa and Sonam Gyaltsen Tenzing, and senior footballers of the State.
Sikkim Aakraman FC president Jigmee Singey Wangchuk mentioned that the football coaching camp for children was first such organised by the club. We plan to organise such camp twice a year in every summer and winter break, he added.
“The camp has been designed after an extensive research to provide knowledge on the fundamentals of football, to make a strong foundation for aspiring young footballers to play professional football in the future. The camp will also have audio-video coaching sessions and interactive sessions between international and national footballers of Sikkim and the participants,” Wangchuk said.
Wangchuk further informed that the camp was also a talent hunt to spot young players for under-15 and u-17 teams of Sikkim Aakraman FC. The club has provided shirts, stockings and kit bags to all the participants and are also providing healthy diet every day after training session.
