A.S. Rao appointed as new DGP of Sikkim

Senior IPS officer A. Shankar Rao has been appointed as Sikkim’s new DGP by an office order issued by Department of Personnel on August 9.
Rao, a 1987 batch IPS officer of Sikkim cadre, replaces S.D. Negi, who has been transferred to the Labour department as principal secretary.
Rao is at present posted as the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at the State Tourism and Civil Aviation department office in New Delhi.
Speaking with SIKKIM EXPRESS over phone, Rao said he is happy with the new assignment given by the State government. I am coming to serve Sikkim with lots of hope and expectation and I will make sure that I will discharge my duty with best of my ability, he said.
