Basketball Association of Sikkim organises basketball tourneys

Men’s and women’s open tournaments along with inter-school girls’ and boys’ tournaments were organised by Basketball Association of Sikkim at indoor basketball court, at Paljor Stadium here recently.
The open events had participation of 14 teams and the inter-school tournaments had 16 teams.
Hoopsters won the men’s open defeating Ravens in the final. X EMRS defeated Clusters to win the women’s open.
Taktse International School won the inter-school boys’ tournament defeating GD Goenka School, Siliguri in the final. EMRS, Gangyap defeated PNG School to emerge champions among girls.
The Most Valuable Player award was given to Tshering Wangyal of Taktse International School (inter-school boys), Hissay Gyalmoo Tamang of EMRS (inter-school girls), Tshering Ongmu Bhutia of X EMRS (women’s open) and Abhishek of Hoopsters (men’s open).
The organisers informed that the matches were played in the best of spirit and the performance of every participating team was outstanding. The organisers plan to hold similar tournaments in days ahead to encourage and promote Sikkim cagers.
Meanwhile, the BAS general secretary Jigmela Wazilingpa has been appointed vice president of All North East Basketball Associative.
