New govtmakes only promises, does nothing on ground: Chamling

Former Chief Minister Pawan Chamling on Friday reached Yuksam and handed away relief materials to the landslide affected families of Tsong.
If the State government does not initiate construction works of your houses within a month, our SDF party will rebuild your houses, the SDF president told the affected families who have taken shelter in the relief camp at Yuksam.
Over 76 families have been displaced due to the major landslides which hit Tsong on the evening of September 16.
The SDF party had held a donation drive during the ‘GaribiUnmoolanDiwas’ on September 22 at SDFBhawanin Gangtok. The funds raised were used to purchase the relief materials handed over to the victims by the party president today at Yuksam.
In his interaction, Chamling maintained the SKM government has failed to deliver its promises made to the people of Sikkim.
“The new government had announced and promised several developmental projects and works. When I asked people on the way to Yuksam, people told me that nothing has been done since the new government was formed. Running a government is really difficult and different from just making promises and giving expectations to the people. Government should not play with the sentiments and expectations of the people, we must respect our people,” said Chamling.
Chamling said the State government is likely to change this November. The head of the State government is changing soon, 2-3 cabinets will also change, he said. The present government is a fractured government, he said.
“Wait for two more years and see what the new government will do. If they do not deliver the promises made by them then the people of Sikkim will have to forget them. I am always with the people of Sikkim,” said the SDF president.
Chamling contended the present SKM government is running under the plans and policies of the previous SDF government. They do not have their own policies, he said.
Chamling was accompanied by senior SDF functionaries including Ran Bahadur Subba, S.B. Subedi, Devika Subba and others.
