Manjusri Public School won 5 gold and 3 silver medals in the 2019 CBSE Eastern Zone Schools Athlete Meet held at Allons Public School, Bemetara, Chhattisgarh from September 3 to October 2.
The Temi Tarku-based school had fielded 6 athletes at the meet participated by 650 athletes from over 118 schools.
The gold medals were won in under-19 boys’ 1500m (Rohit Bista), u-17 boys’ 5000m (Karma Gyaltsen Bhutia), u-17 boys’ 1500m (Elan Hang Subba), u-17 girls’ 400m (Akriti Gurung) and u-17 girls’ 800m (Neuden Lama). Akriti Gurung and Elan Hang Subba also won a silver medal apiece in u-17 girls’ 200m and u-17 boys’ 3000m respectively. The other silver medal was won by Trishna Sharma in u-17 girls’ 1500m.
The Manjusri Public School team was led by Sonam Thsering Lepcha and Binita Bardewa.
The school has congratulated the student athletes for their performance.
