12k new voters added, Sikkim’s electors tally reach 4.36 lakh

GANGTOK,: The final publication of electoral roll with January 1, 2021 as the qualifying date was released on Friday by Sikkim joint chief electoral officer Pema Lhaden Lama here.
The release was done in presence of representatives of recognised political parties, a press statement informs. A soft copy of the final roll was handed over to the representatives.
Special summery revision is done annually by the ECI for updation of the electoral roll. Pre-revision activities started from August 10, 2020 and actual revision was done from November 16, 2020 to December 15, 2020. The final publication is slated on January 15, 2021.
Final roll reflected 2.18% net increase in the final roll from the draft electoral roll published on November 16, 2020.
The total number of electors in Sikkim after final publication stands at 4,36,635, it was informed. Among them, 2,21,721 are male electors while the female electors are 2,14,914.
This year saw an enrolment of 6,075 new voters in the age group of 18-19 years and a total of 1973 service voters have also been enrolled so far. There has been a total addition of 12,517 voters and deletion of 3210 voters during this revision, the release mentions.
