Army jawan martyred

BAGDOGRA,: The body of martyred Indian Army soldier Bidhan Ghising, a native of Pubsiling tea estate, was brought to Bagdogra Airport from New Delhi.
Bidhan, 37 years, was with JAK Rifles since 2003 and recently posted in Uddhampur sector of Jammu. He had succumbed to injuries when hit by a bullet during duty on September 18.
His elder brother Jeevan told media here that they had received a call from the army and said Bidhan died while fighting with the nation’s enemies.
When his body was brought at the airport, family members and friends were disappointed on absence of Army officials and guard of honour for the martyred soldier. They started shouting slogans demanding a guard of honour.
Ex-armyman Sabin Rai said: “It is really sad that not even an Army officer was present to receive the body. Bidhan sacrificed his life for the nation and an ambulance was sent to take the body as if he died of corona.”
Social activist and former GNLF leader Ajoy Edwards reached at the airport along with his wife to pay homage to the martyred soldier. He later handled the situation and convinced the people not to protest as the family members are waiting for the body at Darjeeling.
Four Army personal who escorted the mortal remains from Jammu along with others paid tribute and homage by covering the box with the Indian tricolor.
Army personal who came from Bidhan's unit informed that guard of honour was given in Jammu and New Delhi and was also scheduled at Lebong on Thursday but there was a miscommunication.
