Stating that the Narendra Modi government has successfully resolved that were deemed to be impossible to resolve, Bistainformed the Parliament how abrogation of Article 370, resolution of Bodoland issue and the rapid pace of development in hitherto neglected North East region, has given hope to people from the Darjeeling and Dooars region that Gorkhaland related issue will be resolved very soon.

He informed the house, how twice in the past – in 1986 and in 2007, the government have experimented by creating semi-autonomous bodies like Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council (DGHC) and Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA), both of which have failed to fulfil the aspirations of the people.
Bista further reminded that the BJP has resolved to find a permanent political solution to the long pending demands in its 2019 SankalpPatra adding that a permanent political solution to the long pending demands of the people from the region is important to not only usher in peace, prosperity and progress in Chicken Neck region, but it will also ensure the protection of identity, language and culture of 1.5 crore Indian Gorkhas.
Bista along with Alipurduars MP John Barla also called on BJP national president J.P.Nadda to discuss various issues concerning Darjeeling hills, Terai and Dooars. “We had in-depth discussion on the present socio-political situation prevalent in the region and the BJP SankalpPatra commitments. I highlighted the concerns of the people from our region regarding the delay in arriving at permanent political solution and the re-inclusion and reinstatement of schedule tribe status to the 11 left out Gorkha sub-tribes,” said Bista.
The BJP president informed the MPs that the BJP is working towards fulfilling the commitments made towards the people from Darjeeling hills, Terai and Dooars. He explained that due to the Home Minister having to take medical leave, the process had slowed down.
