CAP welcomes ‘foreigner’ reference deletion

GANGTOK,: The Citizen Action Party (CAP) has welcomed the decision of the Supreme Court to delete the foreigner remark on the Sikkimese Nepali community in its January 13 judgment.

The CAP also lauded the Sikkimese society who stood firm and united in this issue that ultimately led to the review of the judgment in Sikkim’s favour. Also, this would have not been possible without the help and support of Joint Action Council (JAC) and various organisations and we truly appreciate their committed efforts, said the CAP.

In a press statement, the CAP also thanked the Centre and the State government for taking serious note of the issue and taking initiative for a review petition at the Supreme Court.

“However, Citizen Action Party - Sikkim would like to reiterate that the until and unless the review on striking down of Sikkimese word is not reviewed or removed from the judgement dated 13th January 2023, the party shall put up strong stand on it.”

The CAP said its pre-announced dharna at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi on February 9 will be held to put up strong words before the Central government.
