Coordination meeting on Sikkim film policy draft SE Report

GANGTOK: A coordination meeting on draft of film policy organised by Information & Public Relations department was conducted here at the conference hall of Tashiling Secretariat today.
An IPR release informs that the meeting was chaired by chief secretary S.C. Gupta and attended by heads of various departments.  The main objective was to discuss the draft of the film policy and take feedback and suggestions from the chief secretary and the related departments so as to promote Sikkim as a leading destination for shooting and production of feature and non-feature films, both as well as for television content.The policy will be released during the ensuing Global Cinema Festival being held from February 28 to March 1 here at Gangtok.
At the onset, IPRsecretary NamrataThapa gave a brief information on the draft film policy through a power point presentation. She highlighted on objectives of the policy, Film Development Council, film facilitation office and salient features of the policy. Development of the infrastructure, setting up of miniplexes, film and television institutes were also brought before the meeting.
The chief secretary appreciated the initiative made by the department and assured to extend all possible support to make it into reality.  He stated that film policy will encourage locals to choose the sector as a career and help in promoting the interest of people in cinema.
One of the main content of the policy is setting up of a single window system which would facilitate the ease of filming in the State. It was decided to have a meeting to discuss the modalities for the single window system soon with the concerned departments, the IPR release mentions.
