Daughter’s Week celebrations underway in Sikkim

GANGTOK:  The State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW), Women & Child Division and Social Justice & Welfare department is celebrating Daughter’s Week from January 21 to 26 to celebrate the birth of a girl child and to promote the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ scheme.
As a part of the celebration, a programme was held at Balniketan on January 22, inform a press release.
The programme started with SRCW state project coordinator Pabitra Bhattarai briefing the students about the importance of education and about the BBBP scheme followed by the cake cutting ceremony.
The students participated in different activities organised on the occasion. The program was very interactive one and ended on a positive note with the distribution of prizes for the competition winners, the release mention
The programme was attended by WCD joint director Hem Latta Moktan and under-secretary Januka Tamang
A similar program will be held at Namchi on January 24, the National Girl Child day, at Mayallyang Children’s Home.
