DARJEELING:
West Bengal Tourism minister Gautam Deb on Thursday arrived in Darjeeling for a two-day visit to take stock of development work taking place at different places here.
During his stay, Deb will inspect ongoing projects here like the Kurseong Presidency College and Central University at Mungpu and submit a report to the Chief Minister.
With elections scheduled next May, there is less time to start new projects and so the government is giving focus on completion of the ongoing projects, said the minister. The Chief Minister is interested in preservation of heritage properties in the hills and a list is ready, he said. Restoration work of the heritage properties will be initiated after consultation with the Heritage Commission, he said.
Deb today visited Batasia Loop and paid his tributes to the martyrs.
