Expedition onarmy unit raising day


SILIGURI: An Indian Army unit commemorated its 38thraising day with the theme ‘Back to Birth Place,’ by conducting a multi-stage expedition, starting from Mile Stone 5 in Sikkim to Panagarh, West Bengal.
The first event included cycling expedition in mountains from Mile Stone 5 to Bardang covering a distance of 65 km on January 5followed by water rafting in the Teesta river from Bardang to Coronation Bridge at Sevoke, covering a distance of 120 km from January 7 to9.
The motorcycle rally in the final leg of the expedition was flagged off by Trishakti CorpsGOC on January 11from Sukna Military Station. The objective of the expedition was to revisit the place of rising of the regiment and foster team spirit, camaraderie and develop adventure skills amongst the team members. The team comprising of two officers and 18 soldiers will cover a distance of approximately 700 kms over a period of three days.
