SILIGURI,: Army Intelligence Sukna and Bagdogra Police, in a joint operation on Thursday afternoon, arrested a person who impersonated as an Army officer to cheat people.
The 38-year-old accused used to give him name as Vikash Chhetri and was nabbed from Bhujiapani, Bagdogra. His real name is Rajesh Dhutraj, a resident of Naxalbari, sources inform.
According to the information received in the preliminary investigation, the accused used to take money luring people to provide job in Army. He was misusing the name of Army for the last 5 years.
In reference to this, the police and Army officials have also recovered many fake documents of recruitment. For a long time, both the Army and police were on the lookout for the accused person.
According to the information, the accused had reached Bagdogra area to con the local youths. Police and Army Intelligence already had information about the arrival of a fake Army officer at Bagdogra. With full planning, the Army and police officers arrested him while running a campaign together.
Officials from Army Intelligence, Sukna are continuously interrogating the accused at Bagdogra police station to collect more information whether he is involved in other crimes, sources inform.
