DARJEELING: GNLF president Mann Ghisingh today said a party delegation would soon go to Delhi to pursue the demand of a permanent political solution for the hills and tribal status for the 11 local ethnic communities.
Ghisingh was speaking to media after meeting Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar at Raj Bhawan here. He submitted a memorandum to the Governor on the demands of permanent political solution and tribal status.
“We have submitted a memorandum to the Governor on the issues of permanent political solution and tribal status and he has given us a good response. We will soon go to Delhi to meet the Union minister and take up these issues which have been mentioned in their manifesto. We will ask that a meeting be called to resolve these issues,” said the GNLF president.
Ghisingh stressed that faith on the BJP should be maintained as it would ensure justice for the people here.
“During the General Elections, people here supported the BJP candidate and ensured his victory with a huge margin. The trust they have on BJP should remain and our focus should not change. I appeal the people not to lose hope,” said Ghisingh. He made a similar appeal to the people of Dooars region. If Dooars is left out from any solution, the GNLF will not accept it and will protest, he said.
