GANGTOK: Governor Ganga Prasad has applauded and welcomed the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 aimed to bring major reforms in the national education system.
The Governor termed the NEP 2020 as a historic reform and regulatory framework for the education sector, a Raj Bhawan release informs.
“The new NEP 2020 will bring a paradigm shift in our teaching and learning process and will make holistic and inclusive mode in both school and higher education with more focus for all-round development of the students. This will benefit our Sikkimese students as well. It will create more opportunities for our children to explore,” said the Governor.
The Governor expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and entire cabinet for this landmark decision. He said that under the visionary leadership of Modi, India's education sector is going to be effective and it was a positive step forward.
The Union cabinet on Wednesday has approved the new National Education Policy which frames an overhauling the school curriculum and ushering in key reforms in higher education.
The Governor mentioned that new NEP shall play an unprecedented role in the building of a new India.
