Home delivery of relief food packets to with social distancing

GANGTOK: The district authorities have notified the procedure to distribute relief food packets for all needy families, daily wagers, workers and affected sections of the society from the State government.
The instructions for distribution of relief food packages are to be implemented by the local civic bodies, and BDOs of the respective blocks.
It was instructed that the food packets would be prepared by the concerned DCSO and SIMFED and sent to the godowns in the respective districts. The municipal and nagar panchayats would be deputing vehicles for transportation of essential commodities in their respective areas. The GPUs are to receive the food packets from their respective food godowns and ensure home delivery of the food packets to the beneficiaries deputing sufficient labourers.
During the distribution of the food packets to the beneficiaries, ASHA workers of the concerned area must be present and check the health of the beneficiaries duly maintaining physical distance of at least one metre from each other.
“Necessary instructions to all beneficiaries must be given individually to remain at their homes and to maintain social distancing. Further, they must be informed about the facilities being provided by the Government.”
It was directed that distribution is to be done through home delivery only and only one person from each house shall come out to receive the food packets while maintaining a physical distance of at least one metre.
The BDOs, municipal authorities and nagar panchayats can engage labourers in remote areas, if necessary, for home delivery of the food packets. Similarly, the driver and helper of the vehicle and other staff engaged in the home delivery of food packets are to be provided with masks and gloves. In order to maintain proper social distancing, photography will be strictly prohibited during the process.
Services of volunteers and NGOs can be taken to assist in the home delivery of food packets.
The entire exercise of distribution of food packets to the beneficiaries shall be completed under the overall supervision of the concerned SDMs who shall ensure maintenance of law and order, and social distancing during home delivery of food packets to the beneficiaries, it was instructed.
