Inter-school food stall competition in West Sikkim

GEYZING, (IPR): A comprehensive programme of ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat' with the tagline ‘Future Generation Towards Better Tomorrow' under the flagship initiative ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat' of NITI Aayog and official inauguration of the month-long cleanliness movement celebrated across the country from October 1 to 31, ‘Clean India’ under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, was held at the conference hall of the Zilla Panchayat, Kyongsa on October 1.
Additional district collector (west) Shri Agawane Rohan Ramesh chaired the meeting as the chief guest.
The meeting had the presence and participation of district lead, Piramal Foundation, Kuntal Pal, additional director, Education department, K.C. Gyatso, DE, Power department, J.P Subba, National Youth Officer, Nehru Yuwa Kendra, Dev Nepal, school principals, heads and representatives from the concerned departments.
The ADC (west), in his address, commenced with the sensitization upon the importance of the initiative. The sole purpose of the initiative is to make students self-reliant and centralise their focus on the entrepreneurial values by providing them with ample opportunity and platform through which students would gain a handy experience and make a considerable amount of leap towards building a rigid foundation for a probable future career for themselves and job opportunities to many, he said.
Regarding imparting the core motive behind the initiative, the ADC (west) narrated an encouraging story to make attendees more familiar with the initiative in a definitive way. Thereafter, he drew light on the 3-day Inter-School Food Stall Competition, in which 29 senior secondary schools from the entire district would participate. Simultaneously, the competition is set to be held from October 8 to 10 at the concerned block bazaar areas with each team consisting of 10 students and 2 nodal teachers, he informed.
The deputy director of Education department was directed to have a supervisory eye over the students and also to guide them towards smooth, safe and successful progression of the event.
Further, the ADC (west) announced that the one student after shortlisting and interview would be selected to attend ‘Dubai World Expo 2020’ which has been commenced from October 1 and will continue to host till March 31, 2022 through NITI Aayog, Government of India. He even informed about the free coaching opportunity provided by BYJU India for 30 eligible competent students and 10 students from economically lower income generating families for JEE and Medical Entrance Test, which will be availed after the examination and selection process of the interested candidates.
The main objective behind providing such opportunities is to make students robust and to fill them with enthusiasm, encourage them for representation and help them to grow at every level and lead a path towards a newer and better India at the world platform, he added.
In addition, he also suggested for information showcasing of the other flagship schemes alongside ‘Aatma Nirbhar Sikkim', Nasha Mukth Bharat Abhiyan, Clean India Campaign and Poshan Abhiyan to further diversify the utilisation of the event towards a greater level.
Pal, at foremost, through story recitation floored the core motive behind Piramal Foundation's and NITI Aayog's initiative into the district and informed that mindset enhancement approaches from students should be encouraged through creative and distinguished manner. He urged the principals of the representing schools to come together for collaboration and motivated upon the sense of team efforts needed to be made towards the student's development and other correlated aspects. Later, he gave informative instruction about the mandatorily needed form filling procedures.
Dev Nepal threw light on the initiative ‘Clean India Campaign', and informed about its inauguration and pointed out the key course of action for the month-long campaign.
Earlier, the AD, Education department, in his welcome address, highlighted key pointers towards the programme.
