Limited options

Dear Editor,

Lockdown is the only solution since India doesn't have enough testing kits, equipment to protect the doctors and so on. No doubt how the government failed to stop spreading by the month of February - they are neither focusing on medicine. The countries are doing research on vaccine and testing which medicine will help to fight against Covid-2019 like few found Hydroxy-Choloroquine, chloroquine, anti- parasitic & Plasma therapy - Kerala become the first state to set. Today, the NRI are told to leave US within 60 days.

Sikkim is in threat since Kalimpong, the nearest district of WB has marked as hotspot by the government. The essential commodities vehicle do enter - few days back the health minister was on the spot to check, he even said that few vehicles are returned as they are not following the guidelines and a case has been registered against in charge of warehouse, Sun Pharma for not following the instructions. It should be strict then only the people will stop taking casually. Even we have seen how the borders are sealed, even in the side of the rivers.

We should even focus on what are the things that can be done during lockdown - like testing more and more. Tracing, Testing & Treatment is the only solution. The graph of COVID-2019 patients in India is exactly increasing like in Italy even after the lockdown.

Even if the state government go for - Intra vehicle movement they have to frame a proper time for entry and exit of essential commodities vehicle which comes from Siliguri. Just because the lockdown will get over that doesn't mean the people will roam here and there at MG, Marg without any work. Citizens needs to understand this. We are lucky that our state do not have any cases so far - we should know to maintain it as well, by maintaining social distancing, not roaming unnecessarily and so on or the government can set up a law for those who are moving unnecessarily. Otherwise this 21 days lockdown will ruin within a second.

The second option for Sikkim is - only essential commodities were allowed during the lockdown period. The government can slowly open the rest but by one by one. We need to keep in mind that the graph is exactly moving like Italy.

Third option is - District to district vehicle movement.

Last but not the least - complete lockdown.

I believe that there has to be a proper management before going for further lockdown. We have seen how people (especially migrants) had been badly affected by the lockdown. There must be a plan. They need to have proper management for the needy people who are badly affected by the lockdown.

Your’s etc,
