Martyr remembered at Chhath Puja

Homage was paid to martyred Indian soldier SubashThapa by the devotees attendingChhath Puja at Bagdogra’sKamalpurGhattoday.
Thapa's photo frame was kept in front of the puja mandap by Jagruti Sporting Club members. All the devotees paid homage to the brave soldier before performing their Chhath Puja rituals.
“We should bow down to soldiers who sacrificed first, and then the rest.The brave soldiers who have sacrificed their lives fighting with our enemies at the border should be remembered on every occasion,” said Ambuj Kumar Rai, an executive member of Jagruti Sporting club.
Padma Thapa, mother of the martyred soldier, thanked the organising committee for remembering her son on the sacred occasion.
She said, “This is for the first time that I have seen any martyr’s photo in front of the puja mandap. I really feel proud to be the mother of such a brave son.”
3/5 Gorkha Rifles’ Thapa, who was deployed with 33 Rashtriya Rifles, was martyred on October 11 at Naushera sector of Rajouri in Jammu after Pakistani soldiers violated ceasefire.
ThePanighatta Road resident was hit by a splinter in the wee hours. He was rushed to the command hospital atUddhampurin helicopter but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
