Meet reviews Covid status in hills

DARJEELING: Different issues related to Covid-19 and ways to contain its spreadwere discussed in a review meeting between the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA), Darjeeling district magistrate, Superintendent of Police along with health officials at Kurseong on Tuesday.
Emerging from the meeting, GTA chairman AnitThapa said there seems to be an increase of Covid cases in the hills especially in Kurseong subdivisionfor which the review meeting was held today.With one more death of a 50-year-old reported today from Kurseong Municipality area, the total death toll in Kurseong subdivision is three.
Thapa mentioned that among other issues, the need of more awareness on Covid amongst the people, making surveillance committees active and forming a monitoring cell and opening of a SARI centre at the Kurseong hospital were discussed.
Matters pertaining to home quarantine according to government order for asymptomatic Covid cases, frequent sanitization and cleanliness of different places were also deliberated upon.
Asked on extending the ongoing lockdown, the GTA chairman said, “We will monitor the Covid cases in the coming days and accordingly decide if we will extend the lockdown or not.”
