NEC consultative meeting on bamboo, cane development in NE

GANGTOK: A one-day consultative meeting on ‘Bamboo Development and Way Forward in the North East’ was held at Cane and Bamboo Technology Centre (CBTC), at Burnihat, Guwahati today under the chairmanship of North Eastern Council secretary K. Moses Chalai.
The meeting was attended by the senior officers of NEC, CBTC and the practitioners of bamboo sector from the North East region, viz. experts, artisans, entrepreneurs, bamboo industries, and bamboo machine manufacturers. The meeting also had a few renowned bamboo experts, informs a press release.
The objective of the consultative meeting was to take up SWOT (strength, weakness) analysis of bamboo in North Eastern region and to take bamboo and cane development in North East region to the next level through the wide range of activities including plantation, industries, handicrafts, furniture, construction, food and fuel.
The objective is to take the sector to the next level by bringing together grass root stakeholders and all other stakeholders including experts, industries, designers and market intelligence guides, the release mentions.
