Non-Sikkimese returnees to be charged for Covid-19 testing

SE Report
GANGTOK: All non-Sikkimese persons returning to the State will now have to pay for testing of Covid-19. A meeting of the State Task Force chaired by Chief Minister P.S. Golay on June 30 decided that such individuals would be charged for testing for coronavirus.
As per the decision, a letter by the State Health department to all district collectors has instructed the Health department to charge Rs.3,500 for RT-PCR testing and Rs.2,000 for TrueNat testing from all non-Sikkimese residents returning to the State.
Also, returnees would be consolidated in the same hotel instead of being quarantined in various hotels. Next hotel for quarantine has been asked to be used only once the current one reaches its maximum capacity, keeping in view the better use of resources.
All such returnees have to mandatorily undergo 21-day quarantine period which include the initial quarantine at facility and after being released on completion of the testing.
The letter informs that the decisions were taken for comfortable reopening of the State after the lockdown imposed on March 25 in the wake of coronavirus pandemic.
