North dairy farmers distributed milk cans, deep freezers

GANGTOK,: North District Milk Union (NDMU) distributed milk cans and deep freezers to dairy farmers of north district today under national programme for dairy development.
The programme held at Mangshila was attended by State Women Commission chairperson Chungkipu Lepcha as the chief guest, zilla member Zomin Limbo, panchayat president Meena Limboo and members, officials and farmers.  
NDMU managing director Basanta Raj Khatiwara informed that milk union works as a bridge between the government and farmers.  He urged the dairy farmers to focus on hygiene and to handle the equipment with proper care and maintenance.  
Also in the function, a work order for the construction of a society house at Mangshila-Tibuk GPU was handed over to the members of the society.
Mangshila-Tibuk panchayat vice president Dilli Ram Limboo informed about the benefits of dairy farming.  Likewise, Zilla member Zomin Limboo informed that there has been a rapid increase in dairy farming and milk producing in Mangshila-Tibuk GPU.
The farmers were provided with cans, buckets, strainers and deep freezers in the function.  
While addressing the function, the chief guest stressed that the farmers should generate their interest more in dairy farming and further urged that North Sikkim should be made the highest milk producing district.  She further urged farmers to take cluster dairy farming in the village adding that the government is always there to support the farmers.
