Rate board for vegetables at Lall Bazaar

KUNAL RAI
GANGTOK: An official rate board has been placed at Lall Bazaar shopping complex here on Sunday to curb overcharging and to provide benefit to the people coming to purchase vegetables here. The rate of vegetables brought from Siliguri has been decided by the Gangtok Municipal Corporation (GMC) in coordination with the vegetable vendors, hawkers and trade association of Lall Bazaar.
Speaking with SIKKIM EXPRESS, GMC commissioner H.K. Chettri said the civic body has started regulating the price of vegetables being sold at Lall Bazaar in consultation with the vendors and traders. Prices of all vegetables brought from Siliguri have been mentioned in the rate board, he said. This will help to save time for the customers, he said.
“We are sure that with the implementation of the rate board, the consumers will not come across overcharging issue anymore. The rate board doesn't cover rates of locally grown vegetables. The supply of local vegetables is also less at the moment,” said Chettri.
The rate of vegetables will change if any price changes take place in the Siliguri vegetable regulatory market, it was informed.
