Sikkim CM welcomed at Assam enroute to Shillong

GANGTOK, : Chief Minister P.S. Golay was given a rousing reception at Gossaigaon near West Bengal and Assam border on Friday by the Kokrajhar district administration.
Kokrajhar deputy commissioner-cum-DM Megha Nidhi Dahal led the reception for the Chief Minister of his home State.
Dahal hails from Sikkim and is the first Sikkimese to clear the UPSC exams in general category in 2015. The IAS officer is presently the deputy commissioner-cum-DM of Kokrajhar district, Assam.
Golay was on his way to Shillong to attend the All North East Chief Ministers’ meeting to be chaired by Union Home minister Amit Shah. He expressed gratitude to the Assam government and the officials for the welcome arrangement and also all the individuals who were present.
Kokrajhar SP Prateek Thule, Bodoland Territorial Council executive members and district officials were also present to receive the Sikkim Chief Minister.
The executive members of Bodoland Territorial Council expressed their gratitude to the Sikkim government for helping stranded workers during the first phase of the pandemic, informs a press release.
The meeting of Chief Ministers of Northeastern States is scheduled on July 24 at Shillong.
