Sikkim U19 wraps up women’s One Day contest with a win

GANGTOK: Sikkim defeated a low total against Arunachal Pradesh at Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh Friday to register a win in their final Women’s U19 One Day Trophy match.

After electing to bat first, Sikkim managed just 115 runs in 50 overs for the loss of six wickets. Yuden Lepcha (23 runs) was the highest scorer.

In the second innings, Sikkim bowlers put pressure on the opponent by taking early wickets and restricted Arunachal Pradesh to 75 runs in 50 overs.  

Pranita Chettri and Sumi Dutta took two wickets each, whereas Priyanka Gurung, Yuden Lepcha and Anuska Bhattacharya took a wicket apiece. Two dismissals were accounted for run outs.

Sikkim won three matches in the tournament to fetch 12 points. The team will next travel to Odisha where they will play in Women’s U19 Twenty20 Trophy 2019-20 starting March 27.
