SKM sports meet begins at Sribadam


GEYZING : A district-level inter-constituency under-17 sports meet organised by the sports wing of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha in collaboration with State Sports department started today at Sribadam, West Sikkim.
 The five-day sports meet has 12 athletic events for under-14 and u-17 boys and girls and open men’s and women’s volleyball tournaments.
The meet also has a selection committee to scout talents for State and national-level competitions. They will be provided coaching and further trainings.
Rinchenpong CLC president Suk Hang Limboo shared that the sports meet is focused on scouting talents from the rural areas of west district.  The main objective of this event is to spot raw talents from rural areas and provide them exposure, it is informed.
The meet was inaugurated by Agriculture minister Lok Nath Sharma in the presence of Energy & Power minister M.N. Sherpa. Lok Nath Sharma, in his brief address, highlighted various initiatives taken by State government for promotion and development of sports in the State.
