State BJP president resigns as Forest Advisor

GANGTOK,: State BJP president D.B. Chauhan on Monday announced his resignation as the Forest department advisor, a sudden political development that should create a buzz during the Dashain break in Sikkim.
Chauhan submitted his resignation from the post of advisor, Forest department through a letter addressed to the State chief secretary. Copies of the resignation letter were also shared to the media by the State BJP publicity team.
No reason has been cited in the letter for resigning from the post of Forest department’s advisor.
However, Chauhan does record his gratitude to BJP national president J.P. Nadda, Chief Minister P.S. Golay and Sikkim government for giving him the “opportunity to serve” as an advisor in the government.
Copies of the resignation letter have also been marked to BJP national president J.P. Nadda, national general secretary BL Santosh, general secretary (NE) Ajay Jamwal, Sikkim BJP in-charge Sukanta Majumdar and the Chief Minister’s Office.
The State BJP president could not be reached on his phone to seek his reasons for quitting the appointed post of advisor in Sikkim government.
When contacted, State BJP spokesperson Raju Giri mentioned that Chauhan’s decision was taken after discussions with the BJP high command. After discussions with the BJP high command, the State BJP president took this step, he said.
Giri added that BJP has no issue with its alliance with the ruling SKM “at the moment”.
Pressed further, Giri said the State BJP president would inform the public through media in coming days regarding the reasons for his resignation as the State government Forest department’s advisor.
