GANGTOK,: Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir Nirman-Nidhi Samarpan Abhiyan Sikkim chapter has started a 15-day donation drive in the State for the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya.
Addressing a press meet here today, Abhiyan State coordinator Dr. Madan Mani Dhakal informed that the foundation stone of the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 5 last year.
Dr. Dhakal informed that committees have been constituted at State and district-level for the donation drive. We aim to visit every village for the donation but as time is limited, we have set a target to reach out to at least 50,000 families in the State, he said.
Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir Nirman-Nidhi Samarpan Abhiyan is under Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, a trust formed by the Union government for the construction and management of the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya.
“We have issued coupons and receipts to our members. The coupons are valued at Rs. 10, Rs. 100 and Rs. 1000. Donors interested to donate more than Rs. 2000 would be issued a receipt,” said Dr. Dhakal. We appeal people to donate as per the amount mentioned in the coupon and if they want to give more then they must take the receipt, he said.
Those who want to donate anonymously have to visit Ayodhya as such facility is not available under this Abhiyan, said Dr. Dhakal.
The State level members today started the drive and visited the Governor today. They would be meeting the Chief Minister, ministers and MLAs during the drive which will end on January 31.
The donations collected will be audited and deposited in the bank account that the trust has set up, it was informed.
