GANGTOK,: Under the banner of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, State Sports & Youth Affairs (SYA) department organised a two-day State Level Youth Festival at Paljor Stadium here.
The closing ceremony of the festival had SYA special secretary Sumita Pradhan as the chief guest.
The concluding day of the festival had yoga demonstration, elocution competition on "Youth and Aatmanirbhar”, poetry writing and narration of poetry, pencil sketching, painting, sculpture making, photography on 'Environment', and stand-up comedy. The first day saw the participants performing cultural, traditional and folk dances and songs and plays among others.
All the winners of the State Level Youth Festival will represent Sikkim in the 25th National Youth Festival to be held from January 12 to 16, 2022 in Puducherry.
The selection of participants for the 25th National Youth Festival were also held for all competitive events and a contingency totalling to 100 members will leave for the NYF on January 9. The state contingent consists of participants, volunteers and officials.
In her address, the chief guest lauded the participants and wished those selected for national level luck. She expressed hope that they will bring laurels to the State by winning medals in the national youth festival. She also encouraged more youths to participate in such festivals and bring laurels to Sikkim.
The youth festival is a gathering of youth with various activities including competitive ones and more than 150 participants from across state had participated in the State Level Youth Festival 2021.
The objective of the youth festival is to provide a platform to the hidden talents of the State in the field of art and culture so that they can showcase their talents and shine.
