The Segregated Issues On Education Which Need Priority

The state of Sikkim can be a pioneer in education or a leading state amongst all other small states keeping in view the accessibility, affordability and comparatively a thin enrollment. In addition to the various schemes and programs with budgetary provisions from the central government, the academic support systems are always pouring from apex organizations. The priority of the State government in education is another brilliant initiative.
The state government has put consistent efforts to upgrade the existing facilities particularly in primary schools. The scientific devices of teaching aids and updating capacity building are the major supports being provided to schools. Besides all this, the appointment procedures of teaching staff hitherto been adopted in accordance with NCTE norms and compliance of State government Teachers' Recruitment Rules itself indicates a huge commitment to build up a strong and qualitative foundation of School Education. The only apprehension we have is that the young minds in the teaching profession should not lose their endurance. In a broader sense, the concept and role of teaching has widened and each teachers' contribution counts much higher than what was estimated earlier. Now, the holistic outcome of educational institutions is a matter of concern.
But morality and ethics seem to be in a degrading trend in today's society. Our youths are becoming more vulnerable to undesirable activities and losing to set their own agenda. Apart from this, we have also miserably failed to build up a competitive attitude which has caused serious ramifications.
Such situations apparently signify the causes of either the wrong concept of policy framing to educate them or channelizing their potentiality. It is also a matter of fact that the poor quality education may have led to incompetent youths and for which we are also to be blamed. Education does not only give us knowledge but empowers us with courage and confidence to live dignified lives. If we are weakening our youngsters then the entire social fabric or the fundamental base becomes more unstable. The current trend has compelled us to rethink and prepare our youngsters to overcome such defeated attitudes.
The time has come to thoroughly introspect and have a wide range of social movements on education to move forward without waiting for any more policy frameworks and guidelines. Simple mobilizing of resources and putting them in place with full accountability, a lot of visible changes can be brought. Schools are also adequately equipped with capable resources but what we need today is accountability, work culture and professionalism.
The honest and dedicated will power of policy makers and executives could have played a major role as a medium for optimum utilization of resources for making radical changes. Unfortunately, it did not happen over the last couple of decades and the standard of education has deteriorated as we don’t want to overcome the status quo principle. The conventional thought process has also grasped our mindset which further restricts us to change and the same has been a major bottleneck. Innovation and creativity is another significant component in the education system but inadvertently we have failed to adapt with academic leadership.
If we segregate the following enumerated local issues on priority and initiate action as social movement, a huge shift on transformation of society can be brought by ensuring quality education in the State:
1) Resource Mobilization
2) Schools as focusing center
3) Environment Building
4) Educating Stakeholders
5) Leadership Building
6) Beyond discussions and deliberations
7) Screening of the activities
8) Focus on Elementary education
9) Quality Culture
