Two more tests positive, Covid tally is 46

GANGTOK: Two more persons tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday taking the State’s Covid-19 tally to 46 active cases.
As per the bulletin on Thursday by Health director general-cum-secretary Dr. Pempa T. Bhutia, the first person was staying in a government quarantine centre in south district. The second person is a GREF worker from GREF camp near Gangtok.
The first person, a 21-year-old lady, had returned to Sikkim from Bihar on June 12 and was under quarantine at SICB, Kafectar, near Jorethang. She has been shifted to the government isolation centre at Samdruptse near Namchi whose total occupancy is now nine patients.
The GREF worker, meanwhile, had returned to his base in a GREF transit bus along with four other GREF workers on June 15. Two of them dropped at the GREF camp in Martam on the way and the remaining three reported to their camp near Gangtok.
Tests of the three GREF workers who reached their camp near Gangtok were conducted. Two of them tested negative while the third person (49 years old) tested positive. He has been shifted to the Covid-19 isolation centre at STNM hospital, Sochaygang here.
Dr. Pempa informed that the positive case person was in direct contact with the driver of the GREF transit bus and a nursing attendant. Both of them have been placed under quarantine and tests would be conducted after seven days.
Similarly, tests of the two GREF workers who de-boarded at Martam would be done on Friday.
So far, 39 persons have been discharged from STNM hospital and Ayush hospital, Kyongsa near Geyzing after successfully recovering from Covid-19.
