Vision committee for Darjeeling

DARJEELING: A Vision Darjeeling Committee would be formed to suggest measures for development of Darjeeling, said GTA chairman AnitThapa on Thursday.
“We must move ahead with a vision to develop Darjeeling into a high standard place. I alone cannot do everything. There are many intellectuals in Darjeeling and I want to take suggestions from them to make Darjeeling better,” said the GTA chairman.
The proposed committee will have tourism stakeholders, ex-servicemen, retired officials, engineers, doctors, educationists, NGOs and youths.
"The committee will be formed as soon as possible and I will go personally to meet them to request them to be a part of the committee. The committee will look into the different aspects of development,” Thapa said.
The committee would be tasked to develop a roadmap to address the challenges faced in education, tourism, health, economy, waste management, water development and environment. Recommendations from the committee will be included into the vision document for Darjeeling so that the administration can prepare projects.
