World Tourism Day festival starts at Siliguri

SILIGURI: The World Tourism Day Festival 2020 was inaugurated Saturday evening at Mango Tree Village Haat, Church Road here at Siliguri.
Two workshops were organized by Brazilian poet ItaloRovero and Indian tea theme painter MahulaGhosh.
A discussion session was coordinated by poet Raja Puniyaniwho was joined in the discussion by nail artist Ajay Sarkar, ItaloRovero and MahulaGhosh.
During the nine-day festival, homestay owners, handicraft & handloom project initiators, rural tourism workers, women entrepreneurs, culture activists, teachers and students are taking active part in different places, especially in the rural destinations.
Association for Conservation of Tourism (ACT) convener RajuBasusaid, “Keeping in mind the present pandemic situation, the festival will be celebrated following all safety measures and maintaining social distances and other protocols. We will not allow visitors and participants without face masks. ACT has designed a special sensitizing workshop package covering community (samaj), service providers, tourists and administration connect. We call the workshop ‘SurakshaaurSuvidha’and have tied up with local associations to organize the same.”
