GANGTOK,: A preparatory meeting was held at the Education department conference hall, convened by Sonam Choppel Sherpa, chairman, Students Welfare Board, to deliberate on the planning and organization of the upcoming 2nd Sikkim Art and Literature Festival, scheduled to be held in March 2026.
The meeting focused on key aspects of the festival, including the selection of a suitable venue, identification of eminent writers and poets to be invited, and strategies to further promote a strong reading culture among students and the general public in Sikkim. The festival aims to serve as an important platform for literary exchange, creative expression, and intellectual engagement, especially among the youth, a press release on Saturday informs.
The deliberations were held in alignment with the broader vision of the Government of Sikkim to nurture art, culture, and literature, and to encourage reading habits across all sections of society under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Golay).
The meeting was attended by senior officials and dignitaries, including Tashi Choppel, secretary, Education department; Tshering Wangchuk Lepcha, Additional Political Secretary to the Chief Minister; Reewaj Chettri, OSD to the Chief Minister; Sanjay Dilpali Rai, chairman, Art and Heritage Board; and Kiran Dahal, official from the Education department.
All participants shared valuable inputs and suggestions to ensure that the 2nd Sikkim Art and Literature Festival is inclusive, impactful, and reflective of Sikkim’s rich literary and cultural heritage. The festival is envisioned as a landmark event that will inspire creativity, foster dialogue, and strengthen the literary ecosystem of the State, the release mentions.
