GANGTOK, :The 4th edition of
the Tsomgo Ultra Marathon was successfully held Sunday, with Ganesh Tok serving
as both the starting and finishing point.
The scenic yet challenging
route stretched all the way to Tsomgo Lake, offering participants breathtaking
views along with a rigorous test of endurance.
First organized in 2021, the
Tsomgo Ultra Marathon has been an annual event ever since, promoting not just
physical fitness but also broader social and health-related causes.
Dr.Sonam Lasopa, highlighting
the key themes of this year’s marathon,said, “Along with advocating the importance of physical fitness, today's run also
focused on mental health awareness through the introduction of Tele-MANAS, an
initiative by the Health department. This service provides mental health
support to anyone in need.”
In addition to mental
well-being, the event also emphasized the importance of substance abuse
prevention and HIV awareness. Dedicated booths were set up along the route for
HIV testing, further reinforcing the marathon's commitment to holistic
well-being.

This year’s event witnessed a
diverse group of inspirational participants, including a 74-year-old woman, an
8-year-old girl, and a cancer survivor—each proving that determination knows no
age or limits. Their stories serve as powerful reminders of the strength of the
human spirit.
With another successful edition
completed, the Tsomgo Ultra Marathon continues to grow, not just as a test of
physical endurance but as a platform for social impact and inspiration.
