GYALSHING, (IPR):
The cheque distribution programmes under Sikkim Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana were held
in Yuksom-Tashiding constituency, Yangthang constituency, Gyalshing-Bermiok
constituency and Maneybong-Dentam constituency today to provide benefits to
eligible Aamas across Gyalshing district.
The
programme for Yangthang constituency held at Kyongsha Ground, near Geyzing was
attended by minister and area MLA Bhim Hang Limboo as the chief guest.
Addressing
the gathering, Limboo said that the scheme provides financial support to
mothers while recognising their contribution to their families and society. He
said the scheme was also a way of showing respect and recognition to mothers.
Recalling
the loss of his mother when he was around nine years old, the minister said
that he did not get the opportunity to honour her. He said the occasion was
therefore particularly meaningful to him and expressed gratitude to Chief
Minister Prem Singh Tamang for introducing initiatives to recognise and support
Aamas across Sikkim.
The
minister also spoke about Aama Samman Diwas, observed on August 10, and the
Best Aama Awards, which recognise Aamas for their contribution to their
families and communities. He encouraged mothers in Yangthang constituency to
take part in such activities and continue contributing to their families and
communities.
Speaking
about the Aama Sahayog Yojana, he said that the scheme provides assistance for
four LPG refills every year and covers 100 mothers from each constituency. The
assistance is transferred directly to the bank accounts of beneficiaries
through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). He urged beneficiaries to check their
accounts and confirm receipt of the assistance.
Regarding
eligible mothers who were not covered in the first phase, Limboo said they
would be included in the next phase, with arrangements for their inclusion from
2027 onwards. He urged officials and local representatives to ensure that no
eligible mother was left out.
District
collector Tenzing D. Denzongpa stressed the need for proper verification while
identifying beneficiaries. He urged officials to ensure that the benefits
reached eligible beneficiaries and that the distribution was carried out as per
the required procedures.
He
also called for close coordination among district officials, panchayat
representatives and local representatives to ensure smooth distribution of
cheques and address any issues faced by beneficiaries. He urged beneficiaries
to use the assistance appropriately and approach the concerned officials if
they faced any difficulty in receiving the benefits.
As
part of the programme, the chief guest distributed nine representative cheques,
representing beneficiaries from seven GPUs, Gyalshing Nagar Panchayat and
Sangha.
Speaking
on behalf of the beneficiaries, one beneficiary expressed gratitude to the
Chief Minister and the State government for the Aama Yojana and Aama
Sashaktikaran Yojana. The beneficiary thanked the State government for the
assistance and said that the initiative recognised the contribution of Aamas
and provided them with much-needed support.
