GANGTOK, : The Badminton Association of
Sikkim (BAS) has announced the first-ever State Inter-School Badminton
Championship.
To be held across all six
districts of the State, the first round of the event is scheduled for July
12-13. The qualifying players will advance to the final round which will take
place on August 3-4 at Indoor Badminton Hall, Paljor Stadium.
The inter-school event will
feature under-17 and under-19 categories for both boys and girls.
This new addition to the BAS
tournament calendar aims to identify and nurture young badminton talents.
Addressing a press conference
in the capital today, BAS president Jacob Khaling emphasized the significance
of the event. He said, “The inter-school competition will provide a platform
for talented students to showcase their skills and potentially represent Sikkim
and India in national and international competitions.”
