BAS elects new executive body

GANGTOK, : The Badminton Association of Sikkim (BAS) on Saturday elected its new executive committee members and office-bearers for the term 2025-2029.

Jacob Khaling Rai was elected as the new president of BAS with Sukanta Das as the general secretary and Tshering Sherpa as the publicity secretary. Four vice presidents, four joint secretaries, treasurer Karma Bhutia, joint treasurer Sonam Dorjee Bhutia, chief coordinator David G.Lingdong, joint publicity secretary Tenzing Norzom Bhutia, and ten executive committee members were also elected.

A press release informs that the election process took place at the conference hall of Paljor Stadium here with the participation of a total of 58 members, including representatives from 9 district-affiliated clubs and associations.

The newly formed committee is committed to the growth and development of badminton in Sikkim, aiming to enhance infrastructure, training programs, and competitive opportunities for players at all levels.

BAS will continue its efforts in promoting the sport, nurturing young talent, and organizing tournaments to further elevate badminton’s stature in the region, the release mentions.
